A Lancashire MP has warned TV watchers across the county to look out for a change to way they receive their TV signal.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson issued the alert ahead of a change to the way spectrum is used to transmit TV and phone signals. The changes will support new and innovative mobile services in the future while continuing to provide spectrum for TV services. These updates are part of a £600m investment in the programme by the UK government.
The investment will involve modifications to the transmitter infrastructure across the country. These upgrades will impact people watching Freeview who will need to retune their TVs to continue to receive services. Some may also need to have their aerials repointed. The upgrade for Lancashire is scheduled for early March.
Commenting on the upgrade Andrew Stephenson MP said, “Although these are technical changes to our transmitting infrastructure it is something Pendle residents will need to be aware of. As we approach the upgrade for Lancashire more detailed information will be published online, in the local press and in retailers. I would remind everyone to Pendle to follow the advice given to ensure they don’t see any disruption in their Freeview services.”
A support scheme, including a helpline, will also be available for anyone who needs further advice or assistance. More information on the changes can be found online www.freeview.co.uk/tvchanges
