Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has lent his support to pupils at Walverden Primary School as he brought their involvement in the Send My Friend to School campaign for the global right to education to the attention of senior Ministers in Westminster.
The Send My Friend to School campaign of teachers’ unions and development organisations has seen schools around the country join together in the effort to make the right to education a reality for children around the world. The campaign is about increasing awareness of the state of education internationally and pushing politicians to make sure the UK plays an active and effective part in efforts to secure education for all.
Pupils at Walverden Primary School in Nelson have joined the cause and prepared artwork in support of the campaign, which Mr Stephenson took to Parliament to present to the Rt. Hon Priti Patel MP, the International Development Secretary.
Mr Stephenson said, “It was great to be able to the Secretary of State how much support there is in Pendle for the Send My Friend to School campaign. The work done by pupils at Walverden Primary School was really effective at getting the message across. I’m pleased Priti Patel has heard their call and hope we will see continued support for global education from the UK Government.”
