Andrew Stephenson MP for Pendle recently met representatives of the Premier League to hear first-hand how the world’s greatest sports league is providing opportunities and investing in Pendle. The Premier League has three key programmes currently making a difference in Pendle.
Premier League Primary Stars: is the Premier League’s most ambitious community programme to date. By using the appeal of the Premier League and professional Football clubs the programme inspires children to learn, be active and develop important life skills by providing free, curriculum linked teaching resources for girls and boys aged 5-11. So far 38 schools in Pendle have accessed the Stars programme.
Premier League Kicks: uses the appeal of professional football clubs and their skilled community coaches to work with hard to reach young people in some of the highest need areas of the country. Premier League Kicks is delivered by 69 Premier League and EFL Clubs, working with 75,000 young people a year. In Pendle, 281 sessions have been delivered across 8 venues in the last 12 months.
Facilities Investment: The Premier League, in partnership with the FA and Government, through the Football Foundation, invests continuously in grass roots facility projects across the country. So far this investment has contributed to an investment of £1,522,076 including new indoor venue and artificial pitches in the last 12 months
Following the meeting Andrew Stephenson MP commented, “It was very interesting to hear about the various projects the Premier League currently supports across Pendle. Our community sport clubs are a vital part of our community and I will continue to work with partners to ensure they have access to the necessary funding and opportunities to continue to deliver their outstanding work.”
