During the first week of January, 54 Pendle residents made the 250 mile trip to London to be shown round Parliament, by Andrew Stephenson MP. Residents from Barrowford, Colne, Nelson and Foulridge took up the Pendle MP’s invite for a tour, before Parliament restarted its work on Monday 8th January 2018.
The tours of Parliament began in the 900 year old Westminster Hall, which is the oldest building on the Parliamentary estate, before heading to look at the House of Commons and the House of Lords. During the tours Mr Stephenson, talked about the buildings as well as his role representing Pendle in Parliament every week.
Andrew Stephenson MP said; “Over the years I have been delighted to welcome numerous Pendle residents to Westminster to see the historic building in which I work. With the ongoing debate about restoration of the building and the possibility of restricted access in future, now is a great time to visit. I look forward to showing many more local residents around in the weeks and months ahead.”
