Andrew Stephenson MP for Pendle has unveiled his Christmas card for 2017. Each year Andrew runs a competition via local primary schools for pupils to design the Christmas Card. There were also nine highly commended winners who all receive a £10 Book Token each. They were, Poppy McBeath (11), Blacko Primary School, Brooklyn White (10), Castercliff Primary Academy, Zuzanna Serniak (10), St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Lillie McGreavy (9), Kelbrook Primary School, Layla Hudson (9), Trawden Forest Primary School, Darcy Douglas (9), Holy Trinity R.C Primary School, Daood Mohammed (8), St Philip’s C of E Primary School, Ethan Pates (8), Wheatley Lane Methodist School, Jack Maher (6), West Street Community Primary School, Rosie Earl (6), St Michael and All Angels C of E Primary School, Ellie Manger (5), Barnoldswick C of E Primary School and Alice Williamson (4), Walton Lane Nursery School.
Mr Stephenson’s card will now be printed by a local printer and with copies being sent to several thousand recipients, including the Prime Minister.
Commenting on the Christmas card, Andrew said, “The standard of entries this year was particularly high and choosing just one winner was really difficult. I hope people will like Evie’s design, it certainly caught my eye when judging them. I would like to thank all the schools and pupils for entering the competition. I would also like to thank this year’s sponsors, Marsden Building Society and West Riding Hyundai without who the competition and the prizes wouldn’t have been possible.”
