Andrew Stephenson, MP for Pendle, has welcomed a £60 million grants scheme for farmers to buy new equipment.
This follows Farming Minister George Eustice MP announcing on 7th February that the new £60 million Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme will allow farmers to bid for grants between £3,000 and £12,000 to buy new farming equipment.
The scheme is targeted at supporting investment for specific pieces of agricultural equipment. A range of innovative machinery which most farms could find useful is eligible for funding.
The scheme is open to farmers in the livestock, dairy, arable and horticultural sectors, and is accepting applications until 14th March 2018.
Farming Minister George Eustice said: “We want to make sure farmers can become more resilient, competitive and able to capitalise on the growing global interest in quality British produce as we leave the EU.”
“By opening this small grants scheme, we hope more farmers will be able to access this equipment and embark on more innovative and ambitious projects.”
Andrew Stephenson MP said: “I am delighted the Government is supporting British farmers to become more modern and efficient.”
“Farmers across Pendle should consider applying for a grant. It could help they buy the equipment they need to enhance their businesses and boost our rural economy.”
