Andrew encourages female innovators to enter competition
Andrew is encouraging women across Pendle to enter Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Awards to win funding for their business.
Innovate UK have announced that they will be running a second round of their Women in Innovation awards, which will launch later this year.
This year’s competition seeks ideas from female innovators that address artificial intelligence and the data economy, clean growth, the future of mobility, and an ageing society.
The first Women in Innovation programme was launched in 2016, and provided mentoring and £50,000 funding each for 15 female-led businesses.
The awards aim to boost the number of women applying for Innovate UK funding. Since the programme launched there has been a 10% increase in female registrations for Innovate UK support.
Dr Ruth McKernan CBE, Chief Executive of Innovate UK, said: “It is fantastic that more women are coming to us for innovation funding and support, but we need to go further.”
“Our 2018 Women in Innovation programme is designed to help many more women achieve their business ambitions, drive UK growth and productivity, and harness the full talent pool.”
Andrew said: “I am delighted that Innovate UK are continuing the Women in Innovation programme this year.”
“I would encourage female entrepreneurs in Pendle to enter the competition and explore other ways that Innovate UK may be able to support their ideas.”
