Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has shown his support for Every Mind Matters, a new online tool to help people access advice on how to look after their mental health.
The website, which launched on Monday 7th October, creates a personalised action plan, setting simple steps to help people cope better with life’s ups and downs. It is available for both public use and to help GPs advise their patients.
Evidence suggest one in six adults in the UK will experience some kind of mental distress that does not meet the criteria of mental ill health. The aim of Every Mind Matters is to help address relatively minor mental health early before they get worse.
The new web platform has been endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners and members of the Royal Family. It will help people create an action plan to deal with stress, boost their mood, improve sleep and take control of their mental health.
Andrew Stephenson MP said, “Asking for help is never easy. Poor mental health does affect too many people living in Pendle and they may need help.
I back this new platform. It will direct people to the right kind of help at an early stage and shows this important issue is finally getting the attention it deserves”.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said, “Our health - both mental and physical - is an asset that needs to be nurtured. We’re all aware of the benefits of looking after our physical health and the steps we can take to keep ourselves healthy, but many of us are not as knowledgeable or proactive as we could be when it comes to our mental health.
“Every Mind Matters will benefit us all with an accessible tool to help manage our wellbeing at the click of a button. It will offer vital support to those living with a mental health condition and give each of us valuable and personalised tips on how to better cope with life’s daily struggles, while contributing to tackling the stigma that can still surround mental health.”
